Local emo/punk outfit Modern Baseball have announced more details for their new full-length Holy Ghost, including a track listing and album art. The album will be released on May 13th through Run for Cover Records and follows up last fall’s surprise MoBo Presents: The Perfect Cast EP.

When we last caught up the West Philly residents that make up Modern Baseball, they were talking to Brooklyn Vegan about the evolution of their music and the community of music supporters that surrounds them. About the transition from basement show anecdotes to deeper, more thoughtful lyrical content co-frontman Brendan Lukens told BV:

…the playful, quirkiness isn’t something that we told the world about. It wasn’t like we were going out and saying, like hey, we’re Modern Baseball, we’re a quirky, silly band. That has never happened. We do silly things but that’s just how we are as people…. we started Modern Baseball to be sort of like a journal for us to get our shit out, for us to be able to just be honest with ourselves and the ones that we care about around us and I think it is still that today it’s just that we’ve gone through some shit.

If the Holy Ghost trailer is any indication, we can expect this album to work through some pretty touching and personal themes. Check it out below to hear a preview of the title track and listen back to their Key Studio Session here.
