This Monday night at 8pm our New Music Show is back on the air with some standout new tunes!  It’s a welcome return for some classic XPN artists, plus we debut a bunch of new bands that we think you’ll enjoy quite a bit!  Here’s a little taste of what’s to come.

“Quiet Corners and Empty Spaces” by THE JAYHAWKS

For a long time the music of The Jayhawks has had a place in our hearts and on our airwaves here at WXPN.  We’re excited that their new record, Paging Mr. Proust, is a continuation of what we love about the band: their unmistakable vocal bliss and wonderful storytelling.  Here’s a version of their brand new song “Quiet Corners and Empty Spaces” that they recorded for the World Café

“Drinkee” by SOFI TUKKER

Here’s our wild card for the week.  A hypnotic tune by the New York duo Sofi Tukker.  Sofi is Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tukker is Tucker Halpern.  The two have only released two songs, but this one (“Drinkee”) has the chance to be stuck in your head for days!  Enjoy:

“Been to the Moon” by CORINNE BAILEY RAE

Since we first “turned our records on” to Corinne Bailey Rae we’ve been hooked.  The darling British singer-songwriter is as engaging as they come, and we’re pleased to have a new song to spin for you Monday night.  It’s the first from a new album The Heart Speaks In Whispers, that comes out May 13th.
