Radiator Hospital returns to the stage with a headlining show at PhilaMOCA
We’ve been devotees of Sam Cook-Parrott’s Radiator Hospital since catching him opening for Ted Leo at Nacho House in West Philly a couple years back. The project has taken a bit of time off from the Philadelphia stage since a November gig opening for Max Levine Ensemble at PhilaMOCA – though last summer, they crushed a pair of shows at Graffiti Pier and at Union Transfer opening for Screaming Females – but they make their local return on Thursday, May 12th when they headline an all-ages gig at PhilaMOCA.
In the time since they’ve been gone, RadHos quietly dropped a couple new collaborative releases to add to their ever-growing discography. A split EP was released on Specialist Subject Records in October with UK four-piece Martha; recorded by Swearin’s Kyle Gilbride, it’s three tracks of fuzz-punk awesomeness in five and a half minutes, and you can get it for a name-your-own-price download here. (The Martha side is available here.) And then there’s The Great Thunder Radiator Hospital Wedding Album, a collaborative release with the heavy atmospheric rock outfit of Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield, released on vinyl via Stupid Bag Records. Per Bandcamp:
One album made by 2 bands in holy matrimony. Old songs, new songs, borrowed songs, and blue songs, recorded at home and presented here for your listening pleasure.
Awesome stuff overall, and you can listen to standout tracks from each release below. We hope this means RadHos found time in their recording sched for a new LP proper, but this will tide us over just fine in the meantime.
The PhilaMOCA show on May 12th features Scotland indiepop outfit The Spook School, New England’s Bent Shapes and Philly rock faves Littler, returning to the stage that birthed them (the band founded for PhilaMOCA’s 2014 First Time’s The Charm show). More information can be found at Facebook.
