Andrew Lipke and The John Byrne Band to perform a charity concert on 4/28 for the Adaire School music program
Philadelphia schools have been hit hard by budget cuts recently, and music programs are often among the first to go. Fortunately, for the Adaire School in Fishtown, a local community group stepped in and helped raise the funds, alongside the Penn Treaty Special Services District, to keep the school’s music program alive.
To celebrate, the school, which runs from K-8th grade, is putting on a charity concert on April 28 in its newly renovated auditorium. The concert will feature local musician/composer Andrew Lipke and Celtic folk group The John Byrne Band, both of whom will be playing alongside the young musicians of the Adaire music program. All proceeds from the concert will be used to help purchase new musical instruments for program. Oh, and WXPN’s own Helen Leicht will be the emcee for the night. Can it get any better than this?
Tickets to the concert are available here.
