In the springtime of 2015 veteran rocker Jack White took the tail end of his Lazaretto tour tour to regions that, for one reason or another, big tours tend to overlook: Wyoming, Idaho, Alaska and the Dakotas. They were the five states in which White had not yet performed, and recordings from these intimate acoustic shows are being packaged together for fans from other corners of the country.
Third Man Records’ Vault Package #28 – available here with a subscription, through April 30th – includes two performances from the tour: Live in Alaska, recorded at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium in Anchorage, Alaska on April 20th, 2015, and Live in Idaho at the Egyptian Theater in Boise on April 22nd, 2015. The sets contain covers of Leadbelly and Howlin’ Wolf, along with solo songs and White Stripes songs, and was performed with White’s band: Dominic Davis, Fats Kaplin and Lillie Mae Rische.
The package also includes Pictures From Unknown States, a 52-page travelogue from photographer David James Swanson, as well as “two elegant Risograph prints, both suitable for framing and evocative of the gilded settings of each one of these performances.”
