PREMIERE: Former Belle whisper in our ear on Foreign Bed
After hearing snippets of new material from Former Belle over the last few months, we finally get the full picture. Foreign Bed is local musician Bruno Catrambone’s new EP, out tomorrow on Randm Records. It marks a return to Catrambone’s solo work after some heavy touring and recording with Cruisr put his priorities elsewhere for a year or two.
Themes of love and pining come through the bedroom musings, accented by simple acoustic melodies and buoyed at times with lush backing vocals. There’s joy in “I Was Waiting For You” and a search for understanding on “Honey Bee,” bookends of something that doesn’t seem to have worked out in the way that might have been expected.
From Bruno:
“This release is particularly special to me because it’s my first proper release. Randm Records has been fully behind this EP since the first little round of demos I had sent and I think ever since then it’s just felt like a special project was in the works. Each song is its own little short story in some way or another. I was going through a lot of personal life changes that started to come through in the songs so I think a lot of the writing has to do with the lethargic feeling of knowing everything is changing or feeling like everything is pointless and waiting for some kind of luck to turn it all around.”
