The Key Studio Sessions Volume 16
Download The Key Studio Sessions Volume 16 (featuring Queen of Jeans, Hardwork Movement, Abi Reimold and more)
Four months can be a long time, but it totally flies by — it seems like only yesterday that we were coming at you with our last free-downloadable compilation of songs by regional artists recorded for us live in the studio for The Key Studio Sessions. And here we are, 94 days and 20 songs later.
What’s on tap this time? The wide variety that our Philly music community offers on the regular. The set starts off with the gruff Tom Waits-y snarl of Bryant Eugene Vazquez into the retro punk brutality of Residuels and the dreamy indie pop of Queen of Jeans. Things get seriously prog on this outing: Tim Motzer’s Orion Tango drops an expansive nine-minute song, and Square Peg Round Hole gets atmospheric. There’s also a strong showing from the singer-songwriter community – veteran player Ben Arnold alongside newcomers Ben Kessler and Chelsea Sue Allen – and engaging indie rock from Kississippi, Cherry and Slingshot Dakota. From the hip-hop zone, GrandeMarshall vibes out on a sorta-contemplative sorta-raunchy number, while Hardwork Movement explodes in a massive way.
And that’s not even the whole set – stream the compilation and download individual tracks below. And as always, big thanks to those who made this happen: production assistants Dan Malloy and Rachel Del Sordo, photographers Breanna Keohane, Carolyn Lederach, Cameron Pollack and Ady O’Hara and videographers Alyssa Dempsey, Kyle Garvey, Ari Halbkram and Bob Sweeney.
