Chris Kasper Band | Photo by John Vettese

Local favorite Chris Kasper surprised us this week with a preview of his new album by way of “City by the Sea.” The bandleader / singer-songwriter shared the single on Bandcamp ahead of the record’s early 2017 release, dipping us into three and a half minutes of steamy summer nostalgia.

You can almost feel the sticky “saltwater in the air” as Kasper sings against an acoustic guitar, jazzy piano and slow-cooked horns. And to take the vignette a step further, he’s also shared a snippet of a new video for the track, which shows Kasper enjoying a hazy, peaceful day among seagulls and sand dunes.

“City by the Sea” is available as a name-your-own price download for a limited time so grab it while you can. Kasper is out on tour with Carsie Blanton for the next month, whose recent Free at Noon performance you can listen back to here (you can also hear Kasper’s own Grateful Dead tribute FAN here).
