It’s time for our weekly get together to revel in all the great new music that’s coming out. Tonight, we’ve got some full-lengths to give a spin to from Kings of Leon and Norah Jones.  We’ll play a blistering new track from Cloud Nothings and XPN favorites Mayer Hawthorne and Hippo Campus return with new tunes too. Here’s what else we’ll be jamming on tonight …

“Here in Spirit” by JIM JAMES

Just a few weeks ago My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James announced a new album. Eternally Even, Jim’s second solo release, is due out early next month and “Here in Spirit” is the second track we’ve heard so far. The song draws its message from the social conflicts that have rattled the country recently. It simmers over pensive lyrics like “if you don’t speak out, we can’t hear it” and highlights Jim’s both soulful and ethereal vocals.

“America” by FOXYGEN

We promise this will in all likelihood be the strangest song you hear all week. That said, it’ll also be one of the most engaging. Foxygen are back despite their ‘farewell’ tour last year.  Fully orchestrated, “America” is as wide-ranging a song as you’ll ever hear with genre bends at every corner. Leave it to Foxygen to push the limits of our musical imagination on this one.

First Impression Artist: PUBLIC ACCESS T.V.

Here’s to a little TV on the Radio tonight. See what I did there? Ok, well bad jokes aside we’ve got a fun rock & roll band to introduce this evening. The New York based PUBLIC ACCESS T.V. are determined to make rock music relevant and fun again. Their debut album Never Enough is simplified, yet exuberant and harnesses both an edge and mainstream appeal.
