Explore a new side of Allison Crutchfield with her video for “Dean’s Room” off her debut solo EP Tourist in This Town
Philly-via-NYC-via-Alabama indie rock vet Allison Crutchfield is slated to release her debut solo album Tourist in This Town on January 27th via Merge Records, and this week we got our first taste of it via the video for “Dean’s Room.”
In it, the song’s heavy synthesizers and lively percussion mix with whimsical visuals. It seems playful at a surface level, but the lyrics allow us insight into the world that Crutchfield (os Swearin’, P.S. Eliot and Waxahatchee) created. Lyrics like “There are no photographs of us / There is nothing left for us to discuss / You crawl around on your belly and you ask for forgiveness / all while maintaining your innocence” are clear expressions of vulnerability and strength.
Crutchfield is currently on a tour that will end on October 25th with a show in North Carolina. As of now she doesn’t have any upcoming shows scheduled in Philly, but keep an eye on the WXPN Concert Calendar for updates and check out the video for “Dean’s Room” below.
