iNFiNiEN’s “Off The Tracks” brings prog to a whole new level
Stretching far from the normality of a rock n’ roll jam band, Philly space / prog outfit iNFiNiEN just released their first single in over 7 years with “Off The Tracks,” a taste of their new third LP Light at the Endless Tunnel.
Working just as well as a James Bond theme song as a psychedelic fever-dream, “Off The Tracks” takes a hair under 8 minutes to explore their fantastic brand of soothing instrumentation, proving their improvisational roots by effortlessly jamming through spurts of collaborating guitar and keyboard solos, all interlaced with soulful vocal work by lead singer Chrissie Loftus. Behind it all, a wall of bass and frantic drum work help to create one of the biggest sounds I’ve heard this year. In a world where mainstream music is dominated with electronica-laced pop, iNFiNiEN proves instrumental jams are alive and more than well off.
