Pinegrove | still from video

There’s always been a strong country and folk influence in Pinegrove‘s music, but in their new Tiny Desk Concert, that influence is more apparent than ever before. From the short, sweet “Angelina” to the cathartic “Old Friends”, this is Pinegrove doing what they do best–bringing the feels. As is often the case with these sessions, the New Jersey sextet ditches the electric guitars and puts the emphasis back on the music’s core elements. This lets Evan Stephen Hall’s heartfelt vocals really shine. Some of his harmonies with keyboardist Nandi Rose Plunkett here are downright gorgeous, and they save the best for last with moving ballad “Waveform”. This is a must-listen for fans of the band or just alt-country in general, so Stream it now below, via NPR Music.
