Bridgewater upstarts Blind Lion released a video for their newest single “Brumos” earlier this week, proving emo can be performed just as well in a basement as it could in an arena.

Driven home by lead singer/guitarist Larry Flatley’s soothing yet impactful voice, the single expands the all-to-familiar blends of emo and indie rock into a catchy call to help, as Flatley painfully yells to hold on (“You have to stop this / Save you from yourself / Promise you’ll fight this / You could be so much better”). As lead guitarist Nick Capra carefully tip-toes in the tune with dirty guitar hooks, the video follows the battle between a boy and his psyche, using the harshness of winter as the perfect allegory for all the cold, unforgiving fights depression hits us with.

Watch the video below, and check out the band when they open for badXchannels at the Voltage Lound this Sunday (12/11). Tickets/more information about the gig can be found here.
