Residuels are already getting the ball rolling on what could prove to be their biggest year yet. The local outfit, known and loved around the country (and by Iggy Pop) for their raucous, no-frills garage punk, have shared a new single called “I Got Mine,” taken from a debut LP expected to drop later this year. This track is a new look for the band though, taking cues from classic outlaw country in a most spiteful way.

Guitar chords ring out over the loping jangle of bells as frontman Justin Pittney pens a letter to a year many are glad is over. “It kind of sums up 2016 for me, and especially how I feel about our new President. [It’s a] pretty cathartic song,” he tells us. The subdued gait and Pittney’s offhand delivery of the lyrics are surprisingly effective at conveying the vengeful mood – you can almost see him lying in wait as he sings the opening line “When you are forgotten and you’ve faded from the light / it’s your time and I got mine.”

Residuels will premiere a bunch of new songs from the forthcoming record at Kung Fu Necktie tomorrow night. Tickets and information for the 21+ show with The Nude Party and The Robotrippers can be found here. Check out “I Got Mine” below.
