Longtime local power rockers Stinking Lizaveta are stepping back into the limelight with a follow-up to 2012’s 7th Direction LP. Set for release via Translation Loss Records on February 17th, Journey to the Underworld was recorded in Louisiana, across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans in the fall of 2015.

As guitarist Yanni Papadopoulos tells British music blog The Sludgelord, the band drew heavily on that region’s “demonic musical energy” when recording the collection of songs that will appear on the new LP (which takes its name from a potion of Homer’s Oddyssey).

A chugging guitar opens the track like a runaway train before angular riffs are layered on top. It’s tight and to the point, but opens up with the rattle of cymbal crashes and some truly stratospheric guitar solos.
