Mai Spann teams with Hezekiah on old school banger “Triple Threat”
Earlier this month, Philly rapper Mai Spann announced he was teaming up with veteran Hezekiah for a collaborative project. They’re calling it, as one might expect, The Mai Spann + Hezekiah Project, and it’s out this February 2nd. You can check out the video for its first single, “Triple Threat”, below.
Spann kicks off the track by announcing that “this is probably the rawest track I ever made,” and maybe he’s right. Where his last project On The Other Side saw the emcee dipping his toe into sentimentality with songs like “Love Pains” and the title track, “Triple Threat” shows his hungry, agressive side. His old school flow pairs perfectly with Hezekiah’s gospel-tinged boom bap production, recalling classic East Coast hip-hop of the 90s. It’s no coincidence Spann’s Biggie t-shirt is featured so prominently in the video.
