Hurray For The Riff Raff pays tribute to DIY in new video for “Hungry Ghost”
Alynda Segarra’s Hurray For The Riff Raff has a new record coming out this March. It’s called The Navigator, and in preparation, she’s shared a new video for “Hungry Ghost.” It depicts a serene, otherwordly dance party that pays tribute to the recent tragedies in Orlando and Oakland. Stream it below.
With its ambient synthesizers and prominent rock drums, “Hungry Ghost” takes a more anthemic approach than much of HFTRR’s past efforts. Even still, Segarra’s folk roots come through loud and clear thanks to bluesy vocals and the covert band of strings lurking in the back of the mix. It’s an exciting, modern direction for an artist whose music has, thus far, been so heavily steeped in the past.
If you want to catch Hurray For The Riff Raff live, she’ll be touring now through to June. You can see the band this April at World Cafe Live with Ron Gallo. Find tickets and more information at XPN’s Concert Calendar.
