While on tour earlier this month in support of last year’s Romantic LP, local punk outfit Mannequin Pussy stopped by the Chicago studios of Audiotree to record a live session of songs and conversation. Now back home, the quartet joins Abi Reimold, King Azaz, and Carcara at Johnny Brenda’s tonight for a show benefiting the Trevor Project.

Kicking it off with the dynamic title track, Marisa Dabice, Kaleen Reading, Thanasi Paul, and Bear (aka Colins Regisford) swing right into Romantic songs “Kiss,” “Anything,” and “Pledge.” A break gives the band a chance to talk about how the record came together and their first time playing in this configuration, as well as their picks for best album of 2016.

More music brings powerful versions of “Emotional High, “Meatslave One,” and “Someone Like You,” followed by a conversation that covers some future music video plans and the band members’ favorite Philly bands right now (shout out to NAH, Marge, and Beth Israel).
