For two hours, allow us to invite you to stop streaming Coachella performances and press pause on the new Kendrick album. Believe it or not, there is more music out there to digest and we’re confident you’ll like what we’ve got to offer. From an epic new piece of music from Kamasi Washington to yet another Mavis Staples-Arcade Fire collaboration, we’ve got some ground to cover tonight. Our New Music Show starts at 8pm, our line-up also includes some familiar favorites.
LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM and CHRISTINE McVIE “In My World”
We probably should have seen this one coming. While rumors were flying about Fleetwood Mac tour dates and/or festival appearances, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie were hard at work on a new album together. From the opening notes of “In My World”, there is instant familiarity. About 15 seconds later, when the vocals kick in, that spell that we know so well has been casted on us yet again. Part of the past magic appeared in the studio as well. Buckingham and McVie were joined by Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. And they cut much of the album at Village Studios in LA where Fleetwood Mac recorded the Tusk album. The duo’s new record comes out June 9th, we’ll hear the introduction to it tonight.

GOV’T MULE “Sarah, Surrender”
Playing to the strengths of the band “Sarah, Surrender” is another timeless moment from Gov’t Mule. It’s a song that find its balance both in its soulfulness and signature blues rock style. Vocally, Warren Haynes is sweet and persuasive while offering up some tasty guitar passages, which shouldn’t surprise anyone. The band’s new album comes out June 9th. It’s called Revolution Come … Revolution Go. Catch Mule at the Tower Theatre on May 19th and hear them on your radio tonight!
FIRST IMPRESSION: JAKE LA BOTZ
Jake La Botz isn’t just a singer-songwriter. He’s a multi-faceted artist who has an acting career, as well as a few albums to his name. On the acting side of things, he’s appeared in the HBO series True Detective and on the musical side, he’s toured with the likes of JD McPherson. Much like JD, Jake is a throw-back and the connection doesn’t end there. His album, Sunnyside, was produced by Jimmy Sutton (long-time JD collaborator). Jake’s doesn’t move or swing quite the same way. He leans more towards a steady blues direction, but it’s nonetheless compelling stuff. Check out his latest film trailer and tune in tonight to hear Jake play.
