Up-and-coming artist Gabriel Garzón-Montano sat down with World Cafe’s Talia Schlanger to talk about his music and perform a handful of selections from his new record Jardín.
If you miss when R&B used to flow like a summer’s breeze, Montano’s laid-back style is what you’ve been looking for. Full of his influences from New York’s whittled pop to his Columbia roots, his style is sweet and deep. Talia asks about his early days in South America, his eventual catapult to opening areas for Lenny Kravitz, and why the hell Drake sampled his work.
Listen to the episode below, and catch Montano when he hits up The Foundry on May 31st; tickets and more information can be found on the XPN Concert Calendar.
