NON-COMM Recap: The Dream Syndicate show that fuzz-guitars still reign supreme
Iconic indie rockers The Dream Syndicate gave the crowd a taste of exactly what was to await them from the very first chord of their NonCOMM night three set: utterly crunchy, fuzzed-out guitar jams.
It’s been thirty years since the band’s 1988 album Ghost Stories, but it seems like they picked up right where they left off. Don’t believe me? Tell that to guitarist, Jason Victor, who leapt right onto the tables in front of the stage during the band’s second song — strumming the heck out of his guitar amongst the crowd for an epic solo.
Playing new tunes off their soon-to-be-released September album, it was apparent that these guys have been just itching to get back to the stage. Jumping into the fresh track, “Out of My Head,” The Dream Syndicate’s energy was unmatched. It’s the absolute best seeing a band having the time of their lives performing, and the crowd definitely seemed to agree with this as they fed off of the infectious power and joy coming from the crew.
If you missed the set, or loved it and want a repeat, you can catch The Dream Syndicate again, same place tomorrow night at World Cafe Live. Find info on tickets over at the XPN Concert Calendar, and check out photos from tonight’s set below.
