Cayetana have shared a video for New Kind of Normal cut “Bus Ticket,” a clip that symbolizes the themes of new-found confidence and perseverance that thread their way through the recently released sophomore album from the lyrics to the artwork.

Flipping between scenes of the local trio performing in the rain and guitarist/singer Augusta Koch waiting out the downpour in a van, “Bus Ticket” addresses the moments we decide to step into the light and embrace change, and the difficult path that often precedes those moments. Director Adam Peditto, who also worked with Cayetana on the video for “Mesa,” says “we wanted to use rain as a metaphor for uncertainty and chaos in this video.”

And so it’s fitting that as the rain subsides and a late evening sun reaches over the horizon, Augusta heads down a road toward an unknown but brighter future while singing “This is the new me, and I hope that you realize / That I was born strong like the ones that made me / And I was made tough by the one that raised me” — a clear message that hitting rock bottom is sometimes the push you need to become your best self.

Watch “Bus Ticket” below; Cayetana join Waxahatchee on a summer tour that stops in Philadelphia at Union Transfer on July 14th. Tickets and information for the all-ages show can be found here.
