Jack Hubbell’s local, lo-fi project, Telyscopes, recently released a new single titled, “Alcoholics (The Last Drop),” in anticipation of their upcoming album, High Fidelity Drag.

With opening lyrics giving nods to the album’s namesake, the song jumps in immediately by bouncing cheerily along to an up-tempo, happy-go-lucky melody. Hiding underneath this sparkly veneer though is a much darker lyrical narrative.

While steadily rumbling beneath the shiny surface, the darkness escapes in bits during the slowed-down, wonderment-washed chorus, until bursting into an ending storm of noise — screeching and scratching out into its final drowning splashes.

Telyscope’s album, High Fidelity Drag, will be available on July 14th. Listen to “Alcoholics (The Last Drop)” below.
