It’s been a year since vocalist Shari Amanda moved from Raleigh, North Carolina to Philadelphia to join local art-pop ensemble Grandchildren. After seeing her debut in the new “Phantom Pains” song and video this spring, we also connected the dots between Shari and Baby & Shylow, a folk-oriented duo project featuring Grandchildren frontman Aleks Martray.

The latest from Baby & Shylow surfaced late last week: a gentle, Milk Carton Kids-esque performance for the Random Tea Sessions — the long running project of videographer and Key Contributor Koof Ibi Umoren. Martray takes the lead on the first verse of “I Want It Bad,” before Amanda joins in to double his delivery, harmony style, into a vintage ribbon mic. It’s beautiful in its simplicity; check it out below and follow Baby & Shylow on Facebook for news of their upcoming appearances.
