I don’t know how, but just about every Radiator Hospital song is able to immediately elicit a stupid, cheesy grin on my face. Right from the get-go. Every gosh dang time.

Maybe it’s the way a majority of their tunes blast off at full-force in an eager, infectious energy — abandoning empty opening pleasantries with a blunt, no-nonsense attitude. This reasoning would make sense for my most recent instant-cheesy-grin encounter, which was inspired by Radiator Hospital’s new track, “Dance Number.” The other reason is probably the more obvious fact that there is a new Radiator Hospital track.

Though the Sam Cook-fronted four-piece has been sating fans’ indie poppy punk needs by playing local shows here and there, this release is their first full-length of new material since 2014. And it comes with even more welcome news of a whole new album of smile-inducing tunes on its way. Titled PLAY THE SONGS YOU LIKE, the album will be released on October 20th via Salinas Records.
