The Districts explore the anxiety of apathetic suburbia in new video for “Violet”
In The Districts‘ latest video for their live-wire track, “Violet,” the indie lads throw dreary suburban life into a tizzy as they spin a strange and trippy narrative centered around an exasperated character.
The band states:
“For this video we wanted to put the viewer in a state of anxiety through the eyes of a young man unable to shake the feeling of uncontrollable suburban terror. The main character is out of place in a nice setting and needs to find an escape which he does in a weird but beautiful way.”
Focusing on the insane state of the world, the video has obvious undertones of political and social unrest as they manage to throw jabs at “he-who-must-not-be-named” with a chaos-through-calmness dinner scene. Of this, the band states that “simple moments like finding out our president eats his burnt steak with ketchup are too funny to not see this whole crazy world as a very sad, hilarious joke that will likely soon implode.”
