Iconic power trio Sleater-Kinney are back on our radar with the release of a new song. “Here We Come” is the band’s contribution to the 7-inches for Planned Parenthood series, which features contributions from a variety of artists — musicians, writers, comedians, and more — and will benefit the nonprofit organization. The full compilation is out digitally on Oct. 20, and you can stream Sleater-Kinney’s track via Spotify below.

“Here We Come” was initially recorded for Sleater-Kinney’s 2015 comeback album No Cities to Love, but didn’t make the cut. It’s signature Sleater-Kinney sound would have been perfect in any release, but its raw and angry takes on added depth in the context of the 7-inches collection, which was arranged as a response to the threat of “Lawmakers with extreme views [who] are working hard to shut down Planned Parenthood,” according to the project’s website.

Musicians featured in 7-inches for Planned Parenthood include indie rock favorite Mitski, Philadelphia harpist Mary Lattimore, St. Vincent, Sharon Van Etten, and many more. The compilation will also have a full box set available in November.

Sleater-Kinney released Live in Paris, a live-recorded set of older and newer songs, in January. The group was last seen in Philly when they played Union Transfer in support of No Cities to Love — read The Key’s review of that show here.
