Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile take Lotta Sea Lice to the seaside for Pitchfork Live
The powerhouse collab that is Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile released their album Lotta Sea Lice earlier this month, and now we can watch a live performance of the duo’s chill and laid-back songs right where they belong — by the seaside. Hometown favorite Vile and Melbourne, Australia’s Barnett teamed up with Pitchfork Live to record a full 50-minute set comprised of their collaborative songs from the new album and some of each artist’s own solo work.
The video was filmed on the picturesque beaches of Malibu, California and provides the perfect sunny and relaxed backdrop for Vile and Barnett to showcase their combined musical force. Alternating shots of the two musicians and their backing band The Sea Lice with aerial views of the shimmering Pacific, it seems hard to believe that these tunes could exist anywhere but by the ocean. But they will, and if you’re a lucky ticket-holder you’ll get to see the magic in person — Barnett and Vile are currently on tour and will bring Lotta Sea Lice to town Nov. 3 for a sold out show at the Tower Theatre.
