After successfully crowd-funding their EP Time Traveler, which was released just over a year ago, The Bigness has released three songs as a part of a Kickstarter All-Stars collection. The four-piece Philly rock outfit covered two songs that were chosen by the two highest donors from the Time Traveler Kickstarter campaign, and for laughs, sang a contractual agreement about it.

The two songs chosen by the top donors were “Strangers” by The Kinks and “Teddy Boy” by Paul McCartney. For the Kinks classic, The Bigness meshed a lot of reverb with a swinging country vibe to recreate “Strangers” and give it a highly contemporary sound. Lead singer Kristin Bigness has a unique, wavering tendency in her voice that adds an uncommon texture to the perennial Kinks ballad.

For “Teddy Boy”, The Bigness took a slightly more punk route to a standard rock cover. There was a sense of angst that riddles Bigness’ lower-octave vocal line, transitioning to a more up-beat chorus with screeching guitar riffs and steady drums. The Bigness do a great job covering these two vital rock records and an even better job saying thank you to their devoted fans.

Listen to the covers below and go check out the Bigness tonight at Tellus360 in Lancaster or on next Saturday, November 4th, at The Pharmacy. Details on these shows can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
