Flying Lotus‘ career is a tale of diversity, experimentation, and organized sonic chaos, and his new single “Post Requisite” continues this trend in all facets. Known for his multi-instrumentalism and complex production tactics on mostly instrumental soundscapes, the L.A. artist leaves his listeners to visualize his music in all sorts of ways. For “Post Requisite”, FlyLo does the visualization for us.

“Post Requisite” actually sounds a lot like “Zodiac Shit”, a hit track from Lotus’ 2010 album Cosmogramma. The song uses all sorts of chopped up drums and keyboard synths to form a dissonant, yet appealing machine-like beat. The video that accompanies the track has everything from bizarre nudity, distorted images of faces and bugs, and much more. The video makes you question a lot of things you may have held sacred, such as harmless game shows and fruit…but Flying Lotus bashes your former perceptions and forces you to re-think everything. “Post Requisite” does its job in terms of exuding absurdity while also exhibiting some impressive production, solidifying his firm hold on the world of electronic music.

Check out FlyLo at the Electric Factory this Saturday; tickets and more info can be found on the XPN Concert Calendar.
