Queue contemplates the hurt of a blindsided blow in “Aimless Kid”
After hinting a new song with a tempting teaser clip last week, the D.C. and Philly-split dream power-pop group, Queue, have released their latest single, “Aimless Kid.”
Swirling in an atmosphere of ambient sounds, “Aimless Kid” exudes a calmness, but not one of peaceful serenity. It’s the kind of controlled calm that follows a forceful blow of shock and confusion. This aftermath, the broken state of putting the pieces together, is painted through lead singer Olivia Price’s ethereal, smoky vocals. Singing, “I was just another body, I was just another somebody,” Price vocalizes the pain of a realized conclusion, and the black hole of doubt that follows.
If you’re in the DC area, catch Queue play a show at the Rock & Roll Hotel, with info here. Otherwise, listen to them perform live on WXPN Local tomorrow night at 9 p.m. ET for The Key Studio Sessions, keep on the lookout for more Philly gigs, and listen to “Aimless Kid” below.
