The annual Pi Lam BBQ turns the big 4-0 this year, which is kind of bonkers to think about. It’s been around longer than SXSW, longer than Lollapalooza. Independent minded folks have been bringing a daylong live music extravaganza to Spruce Street’s legendary “punk rock frat” since before most artists on this year’s lineup were born, and the show continues to get wilder and more expansive every year.

For 2018, Bethlehem duo Slingshot Dakota returns to the BBQ to headline, alongside commanding Boston singer-songwriter Mal Devisa — who, if you’ve never seen them make even the rowdiest rooms shut up and listen, you need to seriously fix that. Also in the mix are a huge slate of Philly-rooted artists, per usual, like psych-blues power trio Ill Fated Natives, atmospheric R&B / rap soloist Orion Sun, the wildly experimental Old Maybe, the hushed and introspective Deer Scout, the skronky trippy rockers Secret Nudist Friends, the return of Norwegian Arms‘ left-of-center pop and more.

The concert goes from noon to midnight on Saturday, April 7th, and admission is $15 at the door; and yes, there is an actual BBQ running througout, with options for vegans and carnivores alike.
