So this week, out of nowhere, Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) decided to drop two new songs, “Summertime Magic” and “Feels Like Summer,” under the title Summer Pack. Listening to the summer-time themed tracks makes you just want to kick back and soak in that vitamin D. The upbeat, mellow rhythm is refreshing and when paired with Glover’s soulful voice…just hold me back.

Following his 2016 funkadelic album Awaken My Love!, Glover has released four tracks since he signed a deal with Wolf + Rothstein/RCA Records. In May, Glover hosted and was the musical guest for Saturday Night Live, where he debuted his song “Saturday.” At the same time, he released his politically charged music video, directed by Hiro Murai, “This Is America” (read Sameer Rao’s breakdown of the video here).

Recently, the multi-faceted artist wiped his Twitter account, so you know something big is coming. Sadly, there has yet to be an announcement on the release date of the last album under the moniker. All we know is that 2018 is the year it drops.

Childish Gambino’s upcoming North American tour kicks off in September with the hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd and Compton’s Vince Staples, but before that, he’s playing a handful of “Summer Starts Here” events in New York and Los Angeles. The This is America Tour will be hitting 12 cities including Philadelphia on September 18th at the Wells Fargo Center. For more information, go to the XPN Concert Calendar. Below, listen to the upcoming summer-time gems “Summertime Magic” and “Feels Like Summer”.
