Philly-based singer-songwriter Molly Lynn White makes her debut as Littlun with the new EP Sentient Youth. We previously heard one single from the project, “Waltz Op. 3,” and were immediately captivated by its delicate, ethereal sound. The release of the full five-track EP gives plenty more Littlun to dive into.

In addition to vocals, White handles most of the instrumentals on the EP, sprinkling its songs with piano and ukulele, plus cello courtesy of Rachel Icenogle. Sentient Youth opens with the sparse, plucked “Blackbird,” on which White is joined by guitarist Angel Ocana to craft a classic folkish sound. The dreamy “Waltz Op. 3” brings out the depth in White’s vocals, which range from whispery to operatic, while ukulele takes center stage on the faint and echoey “(Afterward).” The EP’s centerpiece comes with the “Easier” and its crisp vocals and string-packed lushness is countered later with a rawer, demo version of the same song that closes out the EP.
