R5 Productions’ Punk Rock Flea Market returns this December at the Cherry Street Pier
Local show promoters R5 Productions may best known for the great concerts they stage around town all year long, but let us not forget the company’s other legacy. R5 is the founder of Philly’s original Punk Rock Flea Market; since 2003 they’ve organized the much-anticipated semi-annual event that brings together dozens of vendors and countless more shoppers for a weekend full of punk rock goodness.
R5’s flea will return this year on December 8 and 9 at the Cherry Street Pier, Philly’s newest community space. The event will host 50 vendors each day — no repeats — selling vintage goods, records, arts and crafts, and various other odds and ends; entrance is free.
In recent years, R5 took time off from hosting the flea, which has opened the door for another local company’s use of the same name. To that, R5 shared a brief statement on their website to clear up any confusion:
Worth a quick mention : We had *nothing* do with with any of the “punk rock flea markets” that were being hosted outside of the old Fed Ex building in recent years (ie Armory, Bok Building etc). That was another organizer / former vendor. We received a lot of notes of the past few years. That was not us. We are the original, longtime Punk Rock Flea organizers (since 2003!)
