Philadelphia punk power trio Control Top simultaneously had an amazing day and a total dumpster fire of a day yesterday. First, they released their latest single, the title track from their upcoming debut LP Covert Contracts, due out April 5th on Get Better Records. The song is another screeching screamer, this time addressing the idea of consumerism and how much of ourselves we surrender to the game of maintaining an image, whether on social media or in the real world.

Everything looks like a commercial
It’s a brand to be controversial

Pretty awesome, as you can hear below. But then last night, after a gig in Seattle, the band was robbed. Their laptops, passports, and three suitcases were stolen, and they are asking fans for help — click here for more on that.

The band will, universe willing, make their way back to Philadelphia on Friday, April 19th, when they’ll open for Laura Jane Grace and the Devouring Mothers. Details on that concert can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar; listen to “Covert Contracts” below.
