Philly art-pop trio Etheric Felines have just released their Persephone EP, which includes the trippy new single “See Without Light.” The tune features an unsettling crunchy intro followed by introspective rhymes and a soft, mystical chorus.

Etheric Felines describe their sound as a fusion of dream pop and hip-hop, taking elements from each and bringing it together to coalesce their unique style of pop percussion over hard-hitting rap vocals. Persephone is the group’s second release, following 2017’s The Selves We Bury.

“See Without Light” expands on the dream-pop-hip-hop concept nicely. Vocalist Acid Orphan’s lyrics of self-discovery and transcendence pair together with singer Cicada O’Kain’s harrowing chorus midway through the cut, offering a surreal vocal experience. The track’s transitions are also set up beautifully, as glitchy rewinding fx transition the fuzzy intro into the verses and back out as the otherworldly choruses ring out.
