Philly punk band Empath just shared the news that they’ve signed to Fat Possum Records, a Mississippi-based independent label that started out as a local blues label before picking up a range of successful indie bands. This fall, they’ll reissue their debut album, Active Listening: Night on Earth, which was first released this May on local label Get Better Records. The reissue will also include the band’s 2018 breakout EP Liberating Guilt and Fear, which has not previously been available on vinyl. The package will be released on October 4, and you can pre-order it here.

Empath has been a favorite of the West Philly scene for the last few years, and began to receive national acclaim with last year’s EP — Rolling Stone calls them “America’s most inventive young psychedelic band.” Empath’s upcoming tour includes shows with Mannequin Pussy and Sheer Mag. Unfortunately, there’s no Philly date, but you can check out their full schedule below, and revisit their Key Studio Session here.
