Philadelphia singer-songwriter Mutlu joined XPN’s Helen Leicht on the Local Show on Tuesday, October 1st for an acoustic performance and conversation that touched on his new album, Good Trouble, as well as the meaning behind it.

Mutlu opened up about his personal experience with depression and how he channeled that into the song “Scarred.” He talked about working with Philly legend John Oates on the song “Nothing In This Whole Wide World.” He talked about the stress and frustration of current events in “Not Escapable.” And he talked about how music can be a vehicle for overcoming tribulations, going back to his involvement with the Musicians on Call Program, which he helped launch in 2004.
