“This has been a real labor of love,” says bassist Jake Leschinsky of Swift Technique about the band’s latest single, a collaboration with famed Philadelphia house music singer Lady Alma.

Writing and production on “Landlord,” as well as the upcoming full-length record it will be featured on, began back in 2018, and after working with engineer / producer Jeff Thomas, the band linked with Alma, who gave an incredible voice to what Leschinsky calls “an anthem for ANYONE who has dealt with an awful landlord.”

It’s a fun and funky jam, but there’s a serious component to it as well. Proceeds from the track will be donated to Broad Street Ministry, a nonprofit that practices what it calls “radical hospitality” for Philadelphians who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

“While the track makes light of a difficult housing situation, we’re also acknowledging the homeless epidemic in our city and the local organizations actively working to help these folks,” says Leschinsky, who notes that Swift will be volunteering at Broad Street Ministry this afternoon.  “As the track is being released near Thanksgiving / the holiday season, we specifically wanted to support an organization that is working directly with the local homeless. In addition to their outstanding local reputation, we played one of our very FIRST shows (nearly 12 years ago) AT the Broad Street Ministry.”
