Lancaster folk duo the innocence mission will release their next album See You Tomorrow in the new year. Karen Peris and her husband Don Peris have been making music as the innocence mission since 1985, with each new record marking the passage of time and reflecting on their experiences. The forthcoming album will be the project’s 12th full-length and the follow-up to their 2018 album Sun On The Square.

The album’s lead single “On Your Side” is out now, along with a video Karen created for the song. The soft and introspective song is “about the sense of misunderstanding, or labeling, that can happen to people who have a quiet nature,” Karen Peris shares in a press release.

“I’m drawn to titles that are phrases, especially ones that seem to be a fragment from a conversation. ‘See you tomorrow’ is the phrase that turns the song around to possibility and hopefulness.”

The Perises recorded See You Tomorrow at their home in Lancaster. Karen sings and plays guitar, piano, pump organ, accordion, electric bass, harmonica, strings keyboard and Mellotron on the record, while Don adds guitars, drums, timpani, and vocal harmonies. Mike Bitts, a founding member of the innocence mission, contributed upright bass on four songs including “On Your Side.”

See You Tomorrow is out January 17 on Thérèse Records. Pre-order it on Bandcamp and listen to “On Your Side” below.
