Philly modern rock band Cheerleader is getting ready to release their latest record, Almost Forever, and their Philly celebration of the new album happens this Friday night at Boot and Saddle.

To warm up for the gig, the bandmates — Joe Haller, Paul Impellizeri, and Josh Pannepacker — appeared on XPN Local with Helen Leicht this week for an interview and to perform acoustic versions of the new songs.

The band chats with Leicht about recording the new album in Los Angeles with Chris Coady at Panoramic Studio and Sunset Sound, which transitions into Pannepacker talking about running his own recording space in New Jersey, Thanks Mom Studio. They also reflect on their love / hate relationship with touring, and perform “Flight Tonight” and “Back on Board” from the new album acoustically.

Take a listen below. Cheerleader’s Almost Forever is out February 8th on Bright Antenna Records, and can be pre-ordered here. The band plays Friday, January 24th at Boot & Saddle in South Philly; tickets and more information on the show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
