Philadelphia son Dave Hause is on a European tour in support of his latest album, Kick, and took a moment at gig in Leipzig, Germany, on Sunday to pair off with his brother and bandmate Tim Hause for a cover of “Murder in the City,” arguably the best song by by The Avett Brothers.

A simple arrangement of acoustic guitars, vocal harmonies, and slight keyboard flourishes, “Murder in the City” is punctuated by a verse testifying to the strength of family ties that was profound when Seth and Scott sang it, and is equally profound coming from Tim and Dave.

I wonder which brother is better
Which one our parents love the most
I sure did get in lots of trouble
They seem to let the other go

A tear fell from my father’s eyes
I wondered what my dad would say
He said I love you and I’m proud of you both
in so many different ways
