Marty Gottlieb-Hollis introduced his solo project Martronimous last year, and now he’s back with its second installment, Incompleteness Vol. II. For the trumpet player, writer and composer, who also plays in Hardwork Movement and Interminable, Martronimous is an opportunity to work independently, explore his various influences, and grow as an artist. The new album is out now via Chill Moody’s nicethingsMUSIC label and is available on streaming platforms.

Incompleteness Vol. II follows like a continuation of “Renew” and “Incompleteness,” the two singles Gottlieb-Hollis released last summer as Incompleteness Vol. I. “Letter to a Friend” is a jazzy instrumental track that picks up speed throughout its five minutes of trumpet and electronic beats. It’s offset by the lyrically-driven “Take My Time,” which was co-written by and features vocals from fellow Philly artist TH/EM. Gottlieb-Hollis also collaborated with Madam Data on engineering, mixing, and producing the album.

On Instagram, Gottlieb-Hollis writes, “If you love a thing, that’s all the permission you need to do it. If you love a thing, the world needs you to do it. I love music, so I’m doing it.” He continues that he wants to relate to music, and to life in general, “with joy and love, with room for growth.”
