Rid of Me is tired of isolation on “I Don’t Wanna Play Music With Myself”
After releasing an impressive debut under the Low Dose banner last year, vocalist Itarya Rosenberg and guitarist Mike McGinnis teamed up with their drummer friend Mike Howard to launch Rid of Me, a raw and ripping punk power trio that conjures the energy and unrest of the PJ Harvey song they took their name from.
The band releases its debut EP Summer on April 17th via Knife Hits Records, and dropped the howling single “I Don’t Wanna Play Music With Myself” to preview the limited-edition tape. Rosenberg’s voice works a Courtney Love-ish howl on the chorus, and the song in general evokes both frustration and also the feeling that it can be — in some occasions, anyway — more productive to be frustrated together, rather than in isolation.
Listen below, and grab one of the going-fast tapes over at Bandcamp. Rid of Me plays its first show on April 29th at Ortlieb’s with Body Spray and Chicago’s Djunah, and then hits the road with Soul Glo for two weeks; dates below.
