Kerry Hallett, the Rehoboth Beach-based singer-songwriter who has previously played under the name Heart Harbor, is back with a new solo track. “Inertia,” which Hallett says has evolved through various incarnations, comes after a difficult time in the songwriter’s life, after recovering from a serious car accident.

“The song is about depression, and how sometimes there is no outside force can reach or affect someone who is struggling,” Hallett shares. “Inertia is defined as a tendency to do nothing or remain unchanged. Those who have struggled with depression understand the crippling nature of it; how the smallest step seems impossible and painful.”

Through the song’s production, Hallett captures the painful feelings of depression, with moody synths conveying the songwriter’s feelings of emptiness, melancholy, and isolation, while also exploring the beauty and strength that can still be found amidst the pain.
