In times of crisis, it’s more important than ever to check in on your friends and loved ones. Here at XPN, we’re Checking In With our extended musical family to see how they’re holding up during the Coronavirus quarantine…and what music has kept them grounded. Today, Rachel Del Sordo chats with Mirian Devora of Queen of Jeans.

Miriam Devora is the frontwomen Philadelphia’s indie rock outlet Queen of Jeans, who released their most recent album If You’re Not Afraid, I’m Not Afraid on Topshelf Records in August of 2019. Since quarantine started, Devora has been spending time working on new Queen of Jeans demos virtually with the band, doing yoga and getting caught up on all her favorite TV shows. She tells us she’s been “watching too much Gilmore Girls, creating oxymorons because there is no such thing as too much Gilmore Girls”

Check out her Checking In music picks below.

Favorite Song of All Time: “Silver Lining” by Rilo Kiley

“I don’t think I can ever narrow it down like that, but lately Mattie and I have been listening to a lot of pop stuff like the new Dua Lipa, Khalid, Selena Gomez… we live together, and also have been having a lot of Rilo Kiley cooking / singing parties. So yeah, the new songs we’re writing might turn out pretty interesting this time, haha!”

Song That Raises Your Spirits: “Outta My Head” by Khalid featuring John Mayer

“I would have never expected to love it, but Khalid has a song featuring John Mayer called ‘Outta My Head’ that is actually just so good and we like to put it on and dance to it and forget about things for a few minutes.”

Song That You’re Most Proud Of Working On: “Not A Minute Too Soon” and “Take It All Away” by Queen of Jeans

“I think we are all really proud of how ‘Not a Minute Too Soon’ and ‘Take It All Away’ turned out on the new record. Those songs really came together when we recorded them and became our favorites.”
