Joining us for this special Indie Rock Hit Parade Live Session is an artist who previously visited our studio when such things were commonplace. Nigel Chapman leads the band Nap Eyes, though the project began as a solo outlet. Back in 2018, Nap Eyes made their IRHP debut, performing a set of songs from their third album, I’m Bad Now. Two years and many lifetimes later, Nap Eyes released Snapshot of a Beginner, another warm collection of intricate melodies and lyrics that are alternately smile-inducing and heartbreaking. Nap Eyes’ early-March performance at Underground Arts (while on tour with Destroyer) was one of Philadelphia’s last “normal” concerts before the city shut down in response to the pandemic. Back at home in Toronto, Chapman recorded solo renditions of some of his new album’s highlights, bringing the story of Nap Eyes full-circle.

Listen to Nigel from Nap Eyes’ home-recorded session below. While the band’s upcoming headlining tour has been postponed, check out their Instagram for up-to-the-minute info (and an all-around entertaining experience).
