This evening, to celebrate #Juneteenth, RECPhilly presents Black Joy Matters: A Juneteenth Celebration of Black History and Music. Co-sponsored by WXPN, the digital live Youtube event starts at 7 p.m., and features emerging local musicians.

Black Joy Matters is part of RECPhilly’s Live with Rec program and includes performances by cellist Aijee Cello, singers Noni Rose and Seraiah Nicole, poet Visionary, rapper Blue w3rD, and DJ Osagie along with a conversation with legendary Philadelphia broadcaster Dyana Williams, who, with Philadelphia International Records producer Kenny Gamble, co-founded Black Music Month in 1979.
