Empath collaborates with the Wexner Center for the Arts on virtual event A Triptych
Philadelphia-based Empath have announced a virtual collaboration with The Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, Ohio. While the collaboration was supposed to take place on April 23rd, in a live performance coinciding with the Wex’s exhibit Sadie Benning: Pain Thing, the event has been moved to a virtual format due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With the move to digital, the band’s collaboration is now titled Empath x Wex: A Triptych.
As the name implies, the “experimental virtual event” includes three separate components: a livestream performance (originally recorded on April 25th at Brooklyn venue Baby’s All Right), a remix of “III,” from Empath’s 2018 EP Liberating Guilt and Fear, and an interview, moderated by the Wexner Center’s Kellie Morgan Lutzko. Check out Empath x Wex: A Triptych here, and watch “III +” below.
Empath’s most recent LP, 2019’s Active Listening: Night on Earth is full of dense, shoegaze textures, airy vocals, and pulsating rhythms. Check out Empath on Bandcamp here.
